The Artist

Jyotika Vijay is a contemporary visual artist based in Gurugram, India. Her multidisciplinary practice moves between painting, drawing, and visual research, investigating the relationship between memory, emotion, and abstraction.​ Originally trained in Visual Communication, she spent nearly a decade leading creative direction and visual storytelling across design, animation, and educational media. This experience cultivated a strong understanding of narrative, composition, and visual language, which continues to inform her artistic practice today.

​Currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, Jyotika's work has evolved into a deeply personal inquiry. Her paintings no longer seek to represent the visible world; instead, they explore internal landscapes where memories surface as gestures, colours become emotional registers, and repeated marks transform into quiet acts of reflection.Her recent body of work investigates how abstract forms can preserve experiences that resist language. Through intuitive layering, rhythmic strokes, and carefully balanced compositions, she creates spaces that encourage contemplation rather than explanation. Working primarily with acrylics and mixed media, she approaches each canvas as an evolving dialogue between intuition and intention. Every layer records a moment of hesitation, discovery, acceptance, or release, allowing the finished work to hold both visible and invisible histories.

​Jyotika's practice is driven by curiosity and sustained by observation. She believes that abstraction has the ability to communicate what words often cannot, offering viewers an open space to encounter their own memories, emotions, and interpretations.
